Week 39

Well, it's been 39 weeks of pregnancy, and still no sign of baby! I have, hopefully, my last doctor's appointment this afternoon, and maybe he'll tell me otherwise...

We've gotten the nursery finished, and now, all we're waiting on is the rocking chair, so there are one or two perks to Abbey not coming early! We get stuff done!! Here are a few pictures.

Right now, we're sitting and waiting for our baby to make her appearance, but it seems she takes after both of us. She'll probably be about 20 minutes late! I guess that means she'll arrive on the 15th at 12:20 AM, but I hope she'll prove me wrong. Chris and I were both a week and a half to two weeks late, but maybe she'll want to get this show on the road. We're certainly ready to meet her!

Kristi Tagged Me!!

The Rules:
1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog (about their eight things) and post these rules. (**if you’re a non-blogger, you can email them!)
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Since this is our baby blog, I've decided to keep up the theme and talk about the pregnancy. Here are some random facts/habits that have developed during the pregnancy. It's almost over!!

The Facts:

1. Lately, I have become OBSESSED with the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It's absolutely amazing, and it can clean anything. Nesting and new moms, I recommend this product to you!
2. I keep the thermostat set on 73 these days...being 9 months pregnant in August, I think I've earned it!
3. I have wanted to eat nothing but watermelon for the past few days. It's sad. And expensive!
4. My new annoyance is people telling me that I "have" to do things, because I'll "never" get to do them again (go out, sleep, etc.). It's like, I have a bank where I can store these things and take them out when I'm not getting to do them later. Shouldn't I be getting myself used to not doing them??
5. I get excited every time I feel a random pain in hopes that it's a contraction. It's sad that it's come to that!
6. I've started a list of "don'ts" that Chris isn't allowed to say after I go into labor. Here are a couple: He's not allowed to say, "Man! I sure wish I could meet you at the hospital, since I'm already so close," if I go into labor at home, and while he's at work. Another one is, he can't say, "Wow...sleeping in my own bed would be really nice," when he's staying with me after I give birth. Stuff like that.
7. I cry every time I see a mom and a new baby on TV. Especially the Friends episode where Rachel gives birth. That one kills me for some reason!
8. Last but not least, I've only asked Chris to go to the store because of a craving ONCE during the pregnancy, and it was this past Sunday. And mostly, because I hadn't done it, not because I had an actual craving for Oreos :)

Ok, following people, you've been tagged: Chris, Mom, Dad, Candice, Joy, Lauren, Laura, and Alayna. Enjoy!

Turning Point

Well, we just got home from the hospital, and the version was successful! We showed up around 6:00 AM, and I immediately got an IV and some blood work done. Then, I got a shot of something (a muscle relaxer), and the doctors explained that they were going to push and try to turn the baby until she was head down. They assured me it would hurt. So, everyone saying, "Oh! So it will basically be like a massage," no it wasn't. A doctor was pushing REALLY hard on my stomach and pressing her head around until she flipped upside down, and then it was over! Not before I asked if we could stop a couple of times, though. You wouldn't think that kind of thing would hurt, but it did. Thankfully, I can't really remember what it felt like, though, so I'm fine now! Now, we're just waiting for her to make the next move, and we'll let you all know when that happens!

PS: Here's what a version looks like.

Week 36

Hello, again! We're in week 36 (and a half), and this may be the last post until we have a baby! Chris and I went to the doctor on Friday the 17th to get an ultrasound, and we learned a lot of information. First of all, Abbey is breech right now, so we're going to try and have her turned in order for me to avoid having a C-section. If that's not possible, C-section here we come! Second, we learned that she weighs 6 lbs. 4 oz. right now...wow, that's a big baby! We're looking at having a 7.5-8.5 lb. baby if I carry her to 40 weeks. I'm hoping to have her sometime in the next two or three weeks, though, just so we can have her home. Third, this kid has a full head of hair, just like her daddy! The ultrasound technician was pretty impressed by the amount of hair she has, so thank goodness we got some bows for her at the shower on Saturday.

Thank you to everyone who came to and/or helped with the shower! We had such a great turnout, and everyone got us the nicest gifts that we can't wait to use! We got most of our big things (crib from Mom and Dad, bassinet and high chair from Mom and Dad J, car seat from Nana), and lots of other small but very necessary gifts as well. The most special gift I got was from Nana. When I was little, her friend made me a Raggedy Ann doll with a full wardrobe of clothes. I always wanted to take her home with me, and Nana told me, "Maybe when you're a grown-up, I'll let you have her." Sure enough, the last gift I opened was Raggedy Ann! I can't wait for Abbey to meet her! The shower was so much fun, and we got to see so many people who are special to us.

We are going to the doctor once a week now, so technically, she could come any time now! She'll be considered full term on Friday the 23rd, which is our next appointment, and when they may try to turn her. Things are picking up! Keep posting those comments, and we'll update as soon as there's any news to report!

More Pics, Update

These are more pics from the 3d ultrasound, thought we'd dump them out here since it's been kind of a slow news month. They can be kind of like a magic eye picture (It's a schooner!) so sometimes you need to look at it for awhile, take a break, go grab a drink, get comfortable, and then maybe you'll see something.

Monica's doing great and in high spirits, we've been painting for the past couple weekends and just finished the baby's room. She's been fussing around the house nesting and whatnot, and it's been incredible to have such a clean place. I could get used to this pregnant wife thing, except for that pesky "never get any sleep because of all the tossing and turning" thing.

For those who don't know, we've decided to name the baby Abigail Hope, and we're calling her Abbey.

Current Baby Size: 16 inches (!)
Current Baby Weight: 3 pounds, or about the total amount of weight that Monica has gained during this pregnancy.

Weeks 22-26

Here's where things get interesting. We did the 4-D ultrasound today, and found out all kinds of cool stuff. Mostly that this girl just won't keep those feet out of her mouth. The doctor kept prodding her with that ultrasound gizmo (wand? mallet?) but she wouldn't move her feet; they're still up above her head. We got some pretty good images of her face, but most of them are partials. That's all for now. Enjoy the pic!

Current baby size: Smaller than a bread box
Current baby weight: Not quite as heavy as a bread box

Weeks 19-21

It's a girl! And what a girl she is...check out the acrobatics! We're already hoping she'll get a gymnastics scholarship. No pressure, though...

Chris didn't get to come to the ultrasound with me, so we're getting a 4-D one done on June 1. Hopefully, we'll get some better pictures of her face, then. Less skeletal. From what I could see, though, she's a cutie! She was sucking her thumb, just like her mommy did! I wonder what she has that's like her daddy...we'll have to check out those computer skills ASAP!

She's moving around like a pro, and she either loves it or hates it when I've eaten a big meal, because that's when she moves the most. We'll say she loves it! Supposedly, whatever the pregnant woman eats frequently, the baby will develop a taste for. This girl is going to love Yoo Hoo and sandwiches!

I'm not quite big enough for people to walk up to me and try to touch my belly all the time...fine by me! I never was comfortable with all the touching that happens to pregnant women. A kid touched me in the hall on my way out of school on Friday, but I was on the phone with Chris about a flight mishap, so I didn't have time to slap her hand away! Hopefully, the baby gave her a swift kick. Maybe we should apply for some soccer scholarships too!

Current Baby Size: 10 inches. If she were a White Bass we'd have to throw her back.
Current Baby Weight: 12 0z., or about like a Wendy's Triple with Cheese*

*Net weight before cooking
